In 1727, Benjamin Franklin, at the age of 21, created a group called the Junto. The group was composed of like minded individuals, who through the joining of ideas and information, hoped to improve themselves, their businesses and their community. Franklin’s idea was to have the best minds and people he could find around him to solve the issues and needs that affected them all. The members of Junto were from a variety of different backgrounds and occupations, but were compelled by a strong desire for improvement and helping others. Junto is taken from the Latin “iunct” which means “to join” or “to unite”.
